Morphine — Benefits

💊 Severe ongoing pain relief – Kadian is an extended-release morphine capsule used for moderate to severe painwhen continuous, around-the-clock opioid pain control is needed for an extended period. It is not intended for as-needed pain relief.

Important 100 mg warning

⚠️ 100 mg Kadian is for opioid-tolerant patients only. The prescribing information warns that Kadian 100 mg and 200 mg can cause fatal respiratory depression in people who are not already tolerant to high doses of opioids.

Major risks

🚫 Do not crush, chew, dissolve, snort, or inject – Kadian must be taken exactly as prescribed. Breaking or tampering with the capsule/pellets can release too much morphine at once and cause overdose or death.

🍺 Do not mix with alcohol, Xanax/benzodiazepines, sleep meds, or other depressants – These combinations can cause extreme sedation, slowed breathing, coma, or death.

⚠️ Dependence, addiction & overdose risk – Morphine can be habit-forming and may cause serious or life-threatening breathing problems, especially when starting treatment or increasing the dose.

🔒 Store securely – Morphine can seriously harm or kill someone else who takes it accidentally or intentionally, especially children.
